Vistas Morro - Slider Old San Juan Fall in love with the beautiful cobblestone streets and colorful buildings that date back to the 16th and 17th centuries, when Puerto Rico was under Spanish possession. With an abundance of shops, open-air cafés, restaurants, gracious homes, and tree-shaded plazas, Old San Juan is a must-see. Fort San Cristobal Castillo de San Cristóbal is the largest fortification built by the Spanish in the New World. When it was finished in 1783, it covered about 27 acres of land, basically wrapping the city of San Juan. Today it’s a wonderful historic site to explore. Fort San Felipe del Morro This 16th-century citadel lies on the northwestern-most point of the islet of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Named in honor of King Philip II of Spain, the fort, also referred to as “El Morro” or “promontory,” was designed to guard the entrance to San Juan Bay and defend the city of San Juan from seaborne enemies.

    Around the Island

Bacardi Distillery Rum Factory Tour The journey begins by being transported through time to Santiago Cuba at Casa Bacardi, where it all started. Visitors will enjoy an interactive tour through history, observe the production process and experience the party spirit of the Bacardi brand. Located in Cataño, you can take a Ferry Boat ride to Cataño from Old San Juan. Historic Lighthouses There are more than a dozen lighthouses on the island. Many of them are restored and some are even operational today. All were built in the 19th century; the earliest was erected back in 1882, and only a few sites are in ruins today. El Yunque Rain Forest Tour and Luquillo Beach Combining a morning trip to El Yunque rain forest with an afternoon of swimming, sunbathing and relaxing on serene Luquillo Beach. The soft sands, shaded by imposing coconut palm trees and the azure waters of the Atlantic Ocean, make it a dreamer’s retreat.
